If you’re applying for a new credit card, it’s important to keep in mind that you’re one among many others also applying for the same card. Here are a few tips to keep in mind that can help you improve your chances of being accepted over the others you’re competing against.

  1. Don’t apply during the holidays. It may seem obvious to get a card during the holidays to help you with expenses, but since it’s what a lot of people are doing, you’ll be facing a lot more competition. In times where there’s more competition, there’s also, unfortunately, a lot more rejections.
  2. Don’t apply to many cards at once. You could actually hurt your credit score but submitting too many card applications at once.
  3. Set up your credit cards to automatically pay each month. Missing a credit card payment can only hurt your credit score, but by setting up auto payments, you’ll ensure that you never fall behind.
